The latest book I have written, “L’Emp’reur, sa femme, le p’tit Prince” : The Imperial Family of France, Photography and the Stereoscope, is about the special relationship that existed between Napoleon III, the Empress Eugénie, their son and photography, including stereoscopic photography. It will be released in May 2023 but can be pre-ordered at a discount.

An acclaimed 3-D expert, he has received numerous awards for his artistic works and technical inventions. I thought I'd introduce you to stereoscopic daguerreotypes, one of the earliest forms of photography and stereoviews, and indeed, one of the most expensive and fragile too. You don't often come across them, but when you do, and you're lucky enough to see one of the beautifully tinted ones, you'll stop in your tracks in awe! They really are the jewels of stereoscopy.
