Photography Journal Open Call (PJOC) is a photography journal exhibition that presents the works of nine participants from the National University of Singapore (NUS)’s community. This open exhibition brings together individuals who use photography as a means of visual research that complements their respective disciplines, as well as those who employ it as a form of artistic research. It encompasses a diverse range of approaches and intentions, spanning categories such as archival, documentative, journalistic, and artistic supported by a sustained line of inquiry or research.
Stereoscopy Blog friend and contributor, Sroyon Mukherjee, who is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at NUS’s Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, is featured in the exhibition, sharing his home made pinhole cameras, including his Cyclopin stereoscopic pinhole camera: “Over the past few years, I have crafted numerous pinhole cameras using household waste materials such as cardboard boxes, biscuit tins, and beer cans. While these cameras cannot fully replace traditional ones, they serve as a poignant reminder of the environmental repercussions associated with photography. They prompt us to contemplate our individual actions and consider how we can personally contribute to alleviating the impact on the environment.” Sroyon’s artist’s page can be found here.
Sroyon was recently interviewed about the exhibition:
Exhibition venue: NX1, NUS Museum, University Cultural Center, National University of Singapore.
