Kickstarter: 3-D Rarities Vol. 3 by the 3-D Film Archive

The amazing 3-D Film Archive team announced their latest Kickstarter campaign last Monday for 3-D Rarities Volume III, a region-free 3-D Blu-ray, which includes:

Around the World in Bolex Stereo: This newly curated collection will contain over 2 hours of unique three-dimensional treasures from the 1920s through the 1970s.

LOST IN 3-D: Selected Views of Yosemite Valley (1922).

Bonus content: Special material by Hillary Hess; The World’s First 3-D Comic Book, starring Mighty Mouse (1953); View-Master Movie Preview Reels (1953/4).

I’m happy to report, as a testament to the popularity of their releases, the Kickstarter has already reached it’s target and is now achieving stretch goals for more restorations. Update 10th Jan 2025, with 40 days to go: the first stretch goal has been achieved, Carmenesque (1953), the next stretch goal is Bandit Island (1953).

The 3-D Blu-rays can be purchased as rewards through the Kickstarter campaign for $30 each, with the anticipated release date, to allow time for the restorations to be completed, given as Summer 2027. For the first time, the 3-D Film Archive are posting the Blu-rays internationally, at a fixed rate of $28. You can also support the projects by making a pledge without a reward.

We wish Bob Furmanek and his team much success with this project.
